MANCHESTER UNITED LIFT THE CHAMPION LEAGUE TROPHY

Manchester united have won their third UEFA champion's Leage title in a 6-5 penalty shoot out against Chelsea in Moscow this morning.

FIRST HALF

The match began with both teams eager to win.

The eagerness showed in the 20th minute when Paul Scholes and Claude Makalele Clashed that left the Manchester player with a bloodied nose and a yellow card for both of the players.

Goal number one came from no other than Cristiano Ronaldo in the 26th minute, a header from Wes brown's well positioned pass which left Petr Cech wondering how the ball went through his net.


But the same strike on the other side of the field didn't end so happily when Michael Ballack's header was punched away instinctively by Van Der Saar.

This time round Cech made the second and third save from Carlos Teves and Michael Carrick's consistent attacks on Chelsea's defense.

Captain Rio Ferdinand was booked for a challenge outside the area in the 42nd minute that ended in a free kick for Chelsea.

Ballack took the kick but there was not enough control on the ball to drive it into the goal.

Finally there was some success for Chelsea when Frank Lampard took the advantage of Van Der Saar's slip, and scored into the nets of the Red Devils.

The same minute Ricardo Carvalho was booked for a challenge on Ronaldo.

SECOND HALF

Chelsea was stronger in the second half and played the better game.

In the 54th and 57th minute Essien and Ballack attempts on goal were misdirected.

The match was on hold in the 67th minute as Ferdinand developed a cramp in his leg, the same cramps continued for many of the player in this game due to severe cold weather.

Drogba's thuderous volley in the 78th minute could only be stopt by the pole.


Ten minutes later Ryan Giggs entered the game to break Bobby Charlton's Manchester record of 759 appearences.

Sum 90 minutes ended and the match had to go int extra time.

Chelsea finished win 43 percent possesion of the ball and Manchester with 57.

EXTRA TIME

FIRST HALF

Florent Malouda was substituted for 21 year old Salomon Kalou at the start of extra time.

The 21 year quickly made an impact on the game, his pacing strike was continued by Michael Essien but no luck for the London team.

Then Nicolas Anelka came into the game to replace Joe Cole who had suffered from a cramp minutes earler.

Wayne Rooney was substitued by Nani in the 11th minute, Rooney was not happy to leave the game.

SECOND HALF

Nemanja Vidic was soon booked for a challenge on Anelka, The free Kick for Chelsea did not end with a goal.

Tevez was fired up in the 24th minute which stopt the game and started a huge dispute between the reds and the blues.

This left Didier Drogba Red carded for slightly slapping Vidic on the face, Tevez received a yellow card only.

The sky began pouring and time was running out.

Ashly Cole crashed heavily with Nani who both received damage to their heads, Cole was on the ground for minutes and needed medical attention.

Julliano Belletti replaced Claude Makalele for Chelsea and Anderson substituted Wes Brown for Manchester.

Extra time was concluded with 42 per cent possesion for Chelsea and 58 for Manchester.

Manchester was harldy living up to the expectations since the first goal.

PENALTIES

First up was Carlos Tevez (Manchester United) who shot through Cech's net.

Michael Ballack (Chelsea) too scored.

Michael Carrick (Manchester United) sent Cech the wrong way, it was a goal.

Julliano Belletti (Chelsea) came into the game in time to score.

Cristiano Ronaldo (Manchester United) was not so fortunate when his shot was caught by Cech.

Frank Lampard (Chelsea) did his bit for Chelsea and scored.

Owen Hargeaves (Manchester United) brushed the ball through the goalie's hands into the net.

Now Ashley cole (Chelsea) did the same to Van Der Saar and scored.

Nani (Manchester United) Scored.

Captain John Terry (Chelsea) missed.

Anderson (Manchester United) scored in the middle of the net.

Salomon Kalou (Chelsea) scored.

Ryan Giggs (Manchester United) who early in the night broke Bobby Charlton club record scored.

It was all on Nicola Anelka (Chelsea) to score but he missed which won the Champions League for Manchester.

This is Manchester's third UEFA Trophy, they celebrated through the rain with nothing but joy and relief.

Chelsea fans were left with no expression on their faces and it was no different for the Chelsea players.

They now have the grief of the Premier League and the Champions League loss to the same club.

But the joy continued for Manchester as each footballer received his medal.

Ryan Giggs and Rio Ferdinand has the honour to be the firsts to lift the UEFA Champions League Trophy.
