GERMANY WINS A PLACE IN THE QUATER FINALS
Germany secure a place in the quater finals in the Euro cup after a 1-0 win against neighbours Austria today.
FIRST HALF
The first half was an exciting one to watch from the very second the whistle was blown.
Germany was dominating the game and some ruffle between the German and the Austrian player saw the Coaches arguing.
Both Coaches were sent to the stands by the referee after several warnings to quiet down.
Lukas Podolski was throwing volleys all over the place but non made into the net.
Mirososlav Klose had the same fate with the ball.
The teams went to half time with Germany happy to equalise and Austria desperate for a comeback goal.
SECOND HALF
Still with no coaches to guide the teams the match continued at Ernst-Happel Stadion.
Austria created some amazing chances but it was eventually the German captain, Michael Ballack who scored the first and only goal of the game.
The goal came in the 49th minute with a free kick taken by Ballack, it passed the wall and passed the goal keeper and now the German captain can feel proud to take his team to the quater finals.
As time ran out Austria brought in the heavy forces and substituted three players hoping to add some fresh legs to the game.
With no hope of that happening the co-hosts bowed down from the competition.
Germany will now face group A winners Portugal.
