When you watch France play football you automatically assume that its going to be a good game.
No doubt that they play well and produce some the finest footballers in the world like Zinadine Zidane, Theiry Henry and Patrick Viera.
We here in Australia are even trying to introduce the French football learning system because we know that the way the French play football is effective.
They nurture their footballers from a very young age and teach them more than just basic skills of the game, but also the attitude that goes with it.
But with all this credit and glory France is a falling football nation and these are the reasons why.
We know that the current coach of France Domenech took France to the 2006 World Cup final but his style of football is out of date. Like the rest of the French squad he's getting a bit too old. It's like trying to introduce your grandparents to MySpace!!!
France is trying to give the aging footballers their last minute of glory before they retire. This is what iran did with their national team. They refused to let the young footballers play because the older ones were not done enjoying themselves yet and they suffered the consequences.
There are some phenomenal footballers in the French squad and they're all on the bench and perhaps only get 10 minutes to play.
This is what France needs to do. Let the younger footballers like Benzema, Diarra and Nasri play the 90 minutes because their bodies can endure it and the older ones who have the experience be the substitutes.
As you age your muscles tense up and your joints become rougher to move and France cant keep up with it’s competitors like Netherland, Russia and Spain.
The problem is that Domenech doesn’t trust the young players. He doesn’t have the courage to let his old players go. But if its experience he wants for his team than its experience that players like Benzema and Diarra need to receive at National level because these players are stars at club level.
Also defense is not the best form of attack. You simply don’t get goals that way. Domenech needs to take chances and play forwards because we know what his players are capable of, but he just needs to use their talents to France’s advantage.
Maybe next time round then.
