EURO CUP : Spain vs Russia
What do you do call a team where every player comes from an elite football club? You call them spain.
It a glorious day for Spain as they celeberate their opening game with a 4-1 win against Russia.
It's even a more memorable day for David Villa who scored three of four goals of the night.
FIRST HALF
For the first 15 minutes of the came it looked as though Russia had the upperhand in the game but the tables soon turned when Spain broke out into attack towards Gus Hiddinks defense.
The first goal of the match was scored by Villa in the 20th minute from a beautifully placed Fernano Torres setup.
Spain continued to hassle the Russian defense and soon after in the 44th minute Villa scored again.
SECOND HALF
Vladimir Bystrov came in at the start of the second half hoping to make a difference but he was taken out of the game by his coach in the 70th minute before he could experience the Euro moment.
Torres was substituted in the 54th minute by Cesc Fabregas who assisted Villa with his third goal in the 75th minute of the game.
With ten minutes left on the clock Russia's game seemed to improve.
It was with a left corner kick that Russia finally scored from a header by Roman Pavlyuchenko in the 86th minute.
One minute into extra time and Spain still had more to say.
A three man attack into the Russian penalty area rewarded Fabregas with a goal and the the fourth for the Spanish side.
This was a long awaited goal for Fabregas and there was no better way to achieve than in the Euro Cup.
This match showed everything that football should be and i certainly hope to see more of the action to come.
