CHELSEA IS GOING TO MOSCOW

Chelsea is through to the UEFA finals in Moscow after an exillerating 4-3 on aggregate win against Liverpool at Stamford Bridge today.

FIRST HALF
Control of the game belonged to the homeside from the very start, up until the end of the 120 minute match.

Martin Skratle had to be subsituted in the 22nd minute, due to an injury, that brought Sami Hyypia into the game.

Didier Drogba scored a thunderous shot, in the 33rd minute, to Pepe Reina's near post from the goal keeper's rebound off Kalou's shot on goal, the spanish goal keeper couldn't regain his stance from the first save.


Liverpool needed composure as they struggled to keep up with Chelsea.

In the 41st minute Xavi Alonso was booked for a professional foul on Makalele which resulted in a free kick for Chelsea, just outside the box, but the ball was driven into the post by Ballack.

SECOND HALF

Chelsea's wonderful build up through the midfield in the 52nd minute almost tured into a second goal by Frank Lampard but Reina managed to make the save this time round.

Then Liverpool's Mascherano paced through Straight to Chlesea's keeper only to have the ball land in the Keeper's hands.

Fernando Torres brought Liverpool back to life in the 64th minute when shot the ball past Petr Cech from Benayoun's clever dribble.

Now equal on the scored board, Liverpool regained their confidence and put Chelsea under the pressure of another attack.

Sum 90 minutes past on the clock that took the game into Exta time which didn't playout so kindly for Liverpool.

EXTRA TIME
First half of extra time

Michael Essien scored a goal in the fifth minute but an offside decision ruled the leading goal out.


With only seven minutes into extra time a penalty was awarded for Chelsea after their unfortunate loss just minutes earlier.

Hyypia's challenged on Ballack ended up as a fateful blow as Lampard scored the penalty which made him Chelsea's highest goal scorer of the season.

Drogba then ended the night for Liverpool with a goal from the support of Anelka.


Second half of exrta time.

Ryan Babel who came to replace Torres scored 27 minutes into extra time but there was not enough time for another goal.

Chelsea celebrated as the whislte went off.

History has failed Liverpool, but a new era is underway as Manchester and Chelsea will fight for their first ever UEFA Champion League trophy.
